Hi. I’m new to Airtable and trying to find a formula that will count the number of spaces in a string. For example, when this formula is applied to the string “How are you doing?”, I want the formula to return 3. I tried using the FIND function, but all that does is to find the position of the first instance of, say, a space in this example. I’m looking for a formula to count the number of spaces. Thank you.

Hello I am trying to create an interview tracker. I have the following fields: Interview ID - formula Candidate - lookup Client - lookup Interview Date - Date, US format with 12 Hour time, Using GMT for all collaborators. I’m setting up a base to among other things track articles aligned with specific research topics. The end goal is a record of articles/papers/research already reviewed and deemed relevant. Two tables: Reading log: web-clipped articles with four views; “Articles – Read and relevant” relates to my question. My research topics: If working correctly, only articles that are both read and relevant should appear here. The “Related reading” field is linked to “Reading log” with view limited to “Articles – Read and relevant.” Problems I’m encountering: For Topic A: A linked record appears even though not read and no selection made for relevant yes/no field. For Topic B: An article that was read but marked not relevant (“Research suggests the blue economy could bolster global food security”) is still appearing as a linked record. Hello everyone! Trying to figure out the best way to do perform this formula. Column Name: Invoice Status Formula rules within column: If “payments” column is filled, and “balance” column = zero show “Paid” If “payments” column is empty, show “Unpaid” If “payments” column is filled, but “balance” column is greater than zero, show “Partially Paid” All help is much appreciated!!

I need to find the number of days an agent is active. Currently, I have 3 columns “Start Date”, “End Date”, and “Days Active” and my formula in my Days Active column is: DATETIME_DIFF({End Date},{Start Date},‘days’) Some agents are still active and do not have an “end date” and I get an error message in the Days Active Column. How do I enhance my formula to replace null values in the End Date column with today’s date?

I have a Base with the following tables: People, Contact History. In Contact History I am logging all conversations with the people from the first table and many times there are multiple records in Contact History for every person in the People table. I am trying to show in the People table just the notes from the most recent contact with that person. As I understand it, I can’t use a rollup field to do this because it’s a string. Any advice pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

I have three tables: one table that lists All Contacts which contains over 100 records, the second table called “Leadership Board” has 15 records, and the third table “Conference Speakers” has 35 records. I want to link the contacts in such a way that if a record in All Contacts is updated, the corresponding record will be updated in the other table. Obviously, the other two tables don’t contain all the records that All Contacts contains, and I want to keep it that way. When I attempt to link the tables, all the records from All Contacts are added to “Leadership Board” and “Conference Speakers”. If someone could please help me with this dilemma, I’d be very grateful.

Hey there, I’ve already converted my array into a string, and each value is separated by a comma. It looks like this: 2019-12-23T00:00:00.000Z, 2019-11-23T00:00:00.000Z, 2019-12-27T00:00:00.000Z, 2019-11- 23T00:00:00.000Z, 2019-11-24T00:00:00.000Z I understand that Airtable doesn’t have index functionality, so how would I achieve this individually for each value? I’ll be splitting these up into 5 individual fields within my table. I know there are other topics on this, I couldn’t find the solution I was looking for on those. Hi, I’m a bit confused and was wondering whether someone can help me. Essentially I want to be able to link to files stored on Google Doc in the Attachments field on Airtable, rather than upload them. Now, when I add a file to the Attachment field, go and change the file in Google docs, it’s not ‘updated’ in Airtable. So, I assume this is because it’s uploading a copy of the file to Airtable, not linking to the Google Docs file. Is there any way to link to the actual file on Google Drive? I saw there is a Zapier that claims to do this…but it doesn’t seem to actually do that…instead it monitors the Google Drive and creates field entries when new files are created. I just want a simple link to a file hosted on Google Drive. Is there a simple way to do this that I’m missing? Thanks for your help.

Hey, I have a scenario in Integromat that integrates with my Airtable CRM and it triggers when someone buys my event ticket. When they buy the ticket, they fill some info like CNPJ and the contact email in a form. Then the integromat scenario runs, it need to find in Airtable the CNPJ (rollup field), if it matches the CNPJ in the field, great! if not, it should find the contact email in the field Email Contato 1 (rollup field that join values from many contacts), if the email matches, great, this is the right record, but if not, it should find the contact email in the field Email Contato 2 (rollup field that join values from many contacts), if it is the right record, great, but if not, it should be empty. I made a formula in integromat but it is not working as expected. Trying to figure out if it’s possible to achieve a multi-tenant architecture on top of airtable. In my case it’s a job / hiring system, so I want clients to have a view of data and candidates to have a separate view. This all works perfectly for read-only access right now using their shared views functionality. But I’d love to get write access in there as well. I don’t think this is possible out of the box with native airtable functionality so I’m open to suggestions that would involve custom API integration or other types of integrations. Would love any suggestions!

I have a formula which builds record names based on the values of other columns: {Name} & " (with " & {Secondary Name} & ") " & " - " & {Event} & "\n " & {Year} & " | " & {Room} Result: John (with Jim) - Conference 2020 | Green Room However if there’s nothing in “Secondary Name” it displays: John (with ) - Conference 2020 | Green Room How do I get it to remove the "(with ) " when there’s nothing to fill it with? The secondary names are linked to other records so unfortunately I can’t just add the brackets to the column entry instead of putting them in the formula. Thanks in advance!

What determined the field order and hidden status of fields when adding to a record to a linked table cell. I’ve created a view with my key data entry fields at the start and all other fields hidden. I’ve specified that the linked record uses that view. That effective filters my records. However, when I create a new record (add new record) at the bottom of the linked record selection screen, the field order and field status is NOT represented. This is a significant issue. I am restructuring a large complex base and users have to scroll all over the record to find their data entry fields. Is there any way for me to control this?

Hello fellow Airtablers. I’m looking for something pretty specific, but not sure if it’s even possible. I have a “Created Time” field and a “Completed Date/Time” field. What I’m looking to create is a field with a formula that will generate both the # of work days and # of hours between the two. Is this even possible, currently? Currently the formula I have that only provides # of work days is: IF({Completed Date/Time}, WORKDAY_DIFF({Created Time}, {Completed Date/Time})) This is what it looks like. Any and all help would be appreciated!

Hi, just started using Airtable and I think it’s great. I was wondering if it’s possible to use the DATEADD() function to add a set number of months and subtract a set number of days in the same formula. I realise I could create two fields, one with DATEADD() for the months and a second with DATEADD() to subtract the days but just wondering if there’s a more elegant solution? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I have a field type that is multiple select. I have created a pivot table within ‘blocks’ to summarise these records by ‘Count’. Is there a way to order the Count from highest to lowest? Please refer to the red box around the values I wish to order. Regards, Tom.

Long topic title… sorry. I have a table of employees that are linked to various other tables. At times, duplicate entries have been created in error or linked records attributed to the wrong person. Is there a way, from within the employee table, to take all records from one linked field and paste them into another employee record, without overwriting what is there? For example: Julie Smith is duplicated in error. There is a table called clients. Julie Smith (record 1) has 50 linked client records. Julie Smith (record 2) has 20 linked client records. I want to move the client records from Julie Smith (record 2) into Julie Smith (record 1). If I cut and paste the 20 records, it overwrites the existing 50 records. This is true for 5 other linked tables across several records. I can change the name of Julie Smith (record 2) to “Fix Julie Smith” and then paste over every record in the 5 linked tables. I need a simple formula for working out a suburb and it puts out a selected output. eg: if the suburb gorokan or toukley is in the field, the formula puts in KPM1. IF the suburb is hamlyn terrace it puts in KPM2 etc etc This will apply to 5 different outputs ( KPM1 KPM2 KPM 3 KPM4 LM1) based on the suburb. IF({Suburb}=“gorokan”, “KPM1”) This formula works great for the single suburb but I cant get it to output KPM1 if I put multiple suburbs in there I know it will be nested IF formulas but I just cant get this first one to work as expected. It will be simple im sure! lol

When I export as a CSV some of the data shows with a few random & unwanted quotes around the company name. The example here is Venoco, Inc… Within the contact entry none of the editable fields have quotes in them. I cannot find a way to edit these out besides editing the CSV once exported. Why does it show in the Donation column with “Quotes”? How can I remove them?! 30%20PM|567x499
