I found multiple posts stating we can’t create new columns/fields on a base but then I also see posts like the following two where the script looks like it’s calling a create() method. Are we able to create new columns/fields through a script? Does TypeCast only work on Create? What about Update? API Does typecast only work on .create? Hi, I have a table that contains the first and last names of people and what I’d like to do is to have a field beside this that counts the number of times a first name + last name shows up in the table. This is because it is possible that I can have multiple entries for the same person and I eventually want to extract unique users for use in another table. The first thing I need to do is to identify duplicates, but I’m struggling with this. My approach was to concatenate & lower case the first and last name to get a standardized format to check for duplication. Would appreciate any help on figuring out how to find duplicates in the table. Also, it’s not enough that I just know if a record is a duplicate or not, I need to know how many times it shows up in the table, so some sort of count formula but I can’t seem to figure this out. (names are not real) Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Is there a way that I can have my employees fill out a form that then shows data they are looking for from a base instead that form inputting data into the base? I have created a table that would be very beneficial to my employees but some are reluctant to use it because they are used to an older system. If I could create a form that makes it very easy to find what they need, that would be wonderful. I see there are some paid 3rd party apps like On2Air that would do this. I assume by the presence of these apps, Airtable does not have this functionality but figured I'd ask when my searches on the community yielded no results.  Thank you for all your time 

Looking for some help with the new Form Builder tool.I have upgraded a couple of forms for external users and all seems well expect for one thing (so far) - I am not able to manually sort a Linked Record type field.In the old form design (created in Data) we would use "Limit record selection to a view" and that view would be sorted the way the data should appear eg. by date, earliest to latest.Now we don't select a Data view but put filters on the field, as you would in Interfaces. I cannot locate a Sort function to go with the filter.Is this an oversight in the update? Or is there something I'm missing? Any one else found this to be a problem?Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a typical CRM Airtable base that has three tables: Name, Company and Project. Records in the tables are all linked together. Now I want to create another base that uses (syncs) information from two of the tables: Name and Company. It's easy enough to create a new Base and sync the two tables...but when I do, the linking between the two tables goes away. In other words, in the new Base I lose the knowledge that John Doe works for XYZ company. It shows us as text, of course, the records are not linked. Is there any way to fix this? 

I am trying to create an automation that updates a record when certain conditions are met:Let's say I am evaluating my retail inventory and want to identify inventory boxes requiring certain follow up tasks: I created a Box Flags field to aggregate a few different record fields into 2 flags: boxes that need to be replaced, and boxes that need their contents separated. I have created an automation to update records for the first flag, but am struggling with the conditions for the second. I only want the "separate contents" flag on boxes with more than one field value. "Has any of" retrieves all boxes, "has all of" requires a tedious number of conditions to capture every combo of values, "is exactly" and "is/is not empty" don't apply. In other apps I've worked in, I could write a condition like Box Contents contains A,B,C,D,E AND (Box Contents is not equal to A OR Box Contents is not equal to B OR...) to filter out the single value records, but I can't seem to wrangle thes

Im trying to use a field related to another table, the field is a date datatype which is in local format (DD/MM/YYYY) but the lookup tries to use another data forma (MM/DD/YYYY) so its not retrieving properly.Fecha de Facturación and Fecha (from another table) are both in local format But the datatype link from one table to the other search in another format so it fails...anyone who has passed through this problem?  

I am trying to sort by the Week # of the year that an entry is assigned on my base. Its sorted by year, then by week - so 2024, week 1 through 52, etc.However, for anything this week up until the 31st, its showing up as the 1st week of Dec 2024 (which confuses me as you would think it'd be 1st week of 2025?). I would like that to show up as the last week of Dec 2024 (week 52) or even Week 1 2025.Formula is:WEEKNUM((Assigned), "Monday") It is pulling data from the "Assigned" column, which is listed in the format: 12/30/24 11:00amThanks!

Hello community, how would you go about exporting a table or even base's field names and IDs? In an ideal case, I would sync on intervals a sorted list of all fields and their properties, similar to how it's shown under manage fields. Thanks!

Hi again,Is there a way for you to have data from a field "written" to that field and fixed for those changes elsewhere will not affect the result in this field in the future?An example of this might be;A fee in one table is designed to be updated in future years, and that field is referred to in other locations. Once that booking has been confirmed and paid, I want to be able to "fix that price" for that booking so that if the lookup value in the first table changes in future, that the confirmed bookings either do not change or, that a field has been updated which then remains at the agreed price.I hope that makes sense? Thanks S

Hello everyone!I need help with a formula that computes two fields as {field 1}/{field 2}.However, the base is new for my team, and we're working to input backdated data, so some records that use these fields are 0 (zero), at the moment. The formula field that computes the two fields is used on current data, and we'd love to eliminate the infinity returns so as not to interrupt the SUMs we use in other areas of our work.I've played around with several iterations of the formula and solved one to lose another 🤪 The current formula I'm using to keep us sane in the interim is:IF({KGM 500 Total Attendance}>0,{KGM 500 Total Attendance}/{KGM 500 Total Capacity}) Attached is a screen shot of the fields in the base for reference. First using airtable but profecient in Python, SQL and some JavaScript/Vue3.js for house needs. I dont consider this a "complex problem", but havent been able to crack it in Airtable env. only.I have a scenario where i want to dynamically control form field visibility based on "boolean" values from another table. I am aware that form defaults to communicate with one record at a time given the table it belongs to.I have a table named "application" and another "analysis" and fieldsnames are generally the same. once "application" has a PDF file attached, analysis makes a "lookup" and a python script executes 16 rather complex regex patterns and saves the output as boolean values, could be "1 or 0", "yes or no" and "ja or nej".From the analysis output, the idea is/was to use these booleans as a condition to manage visibility and nothing else. When I do a rollup to get the unique documents, it is correctly retrieving just the unique values - but while a lookup brings up the actual attachment documents, the rollup displays Airtable's Internal URL for the document.How do I then retrieve the document?   

I have a few currency fields that I am adding up in a simple formula field. I am then trying to display the output of that formula field within a text string I am building with another formula. However, I’m getting some strange decimals when showing the numbers.In an effort to troubleshoot this, I create a new blank Airtable base for testing and I’m getting the same result. Looking to create some kind of form / interface that allows the user to submit multiple records. For context, here is the use case:I'm creating an Ordering/Receiving Inventory Management base to use across staff at a Restaurant for order management. Person 1 does the ordering, they submit what they ordered. (ideally they'd be able to do it by distributor, so for Distributor 1 we ordered 7 cases of X, 2 cases of Y, etc.) This populates to a new table of sorts that Person 2 can reference when they do the receiving of said order. They'll see the 'Qty ordered', the 'Item Ordered', and the 'Distributor'. They theoretically can denote what was received (1 case of Y instead of 2 cases, etc.), as well as attach invoices for easy reference. Not necessarily set on the set up being a 'form' per se, although that makes the most sense to me. Hi there, I'm on a business plan using interfaces as a ticketing system with multiple external parties. Each external party has an interface with a unique filter condition and are given read-only access. I want them to be able to view the comments too - is there any way I can do this? I've enabled record-level details such that when they click on each row, the individual record shows. however, it doesnt allow me to configure this record-level view with Comments/Activity feed element. All I'm seeing are the Fields, and two other options: Chart and Number.

Hi, new Airtable’r, I searched around but couldn’t find answer to this! I’m surveying my customers about their opinions on products we’re considering developing. I have a base that contains a table with details about all the potential products, including a field I made customer ratings. I’d like to create a from that displays every product in the table, showing its image and description, and a place to collect their rating for that product. I have a [Anniversary] field and a field that calculates the next anniversary, so I get reminders and write a card for my volunteers. Here is my problem:The basic formula works fine when there is an anniversary in the field. When there isn't one, I get the #ERROR, which one would expect. I tried ISERROR(...) and IF(ISERROR...) to get it to show blank, but I can't get it to work. We have a couple of columns populated with emails and names, the rest of the AirTable base will be empty (I've attached a screenshot). What we'd need is to trigger the workflow in Make based on specific time trigger automation and I just don't know how to tell the workflow to start as the specific trigger time automation in AirTable doesn't allow me to use the recordID field. Would you be able to direct me to a solution if there's any or tell me how you'd accomplish that feat?

Hi, I keep getting this new message in the automation script ide :Error: Request processing is disabled due to earlier failed requestIt seem like airtable does not want to rerty a fetch that previously failed even if the input parameters have changed.
