In a rich-text enabled long text I can use [] to create a check list.Trying to create a checklist by default in an automation using the same function but it doesn’t seem to work. Is there anything different I need to do if this is a capability? If not i can look into adding it to a script that I have earlier in the automation.
Hi,I’m a bit confused regarding exactly how to navigate the different situations when wanting to append data with Update Record automations. I see some seemingly random errors that I quite can’t understand. The basic use is clear, add “back” the existing data that was in the field, then add the new data separated by a space or by a comma if it’s an array. But, how to deal with these situations?you don’t know if there is existing data in the field, so which input variable do you place first? The variable for the existing data, or the new? I seem to get errors if having the existing data variable first, indicating it can’t fill first an empty variable then process the comma and the new data. if you use the values under FLATTEN in the variable token, should you use a space or a comma as delimiter? As FLATTEN transforms an array to a comma-separated string, shouldn’t one then use space? Or, should one not FLATTEN the data, and use comma for array?Rgds,Björn
I have a table (“Active”) with thousands of records, each with at least one photo, the table is refreshing more slowly everyday (we upload small file images). To help speed things up I have created a copy of the table (without data) and setup an automation to copy any given record to a new table (“Archive”) when two field values are met ( “status”=SOLD, and “Archive” checkbox is ticked). This is working now that I’ve mapped all of the fields from one table to the other. I want to continue the automation to delete the record (from the “Active” table) that has been duplicated from the “Active” table to the “Archive” table. Tutorials say to add an additional action, “Delete Record”, but I find no such choice when adding an additional action. It seems this should be an evident action, but I’m stuck. We have a “Team” level subscription so I’ve read the option should be available. We’re using Safari on Macs. All advice appreciated.
Hi,It seems that the Google Calendar: Create Event requires a hard coded (chosen) calendar to place an event in. We have used a shared calendar for this, but it gets somewhat messy.Hence, would it somehow be possible to have the event placed in a dynamically chosen calendar? Either <current user> or somehow derived based on a variable (e-mail addresse for example)?Rgds,Björn
Hello,We’re working on an Airtable automation and wanted to sanity‑check whether this setup is supported or if there’s a better approach. We have a table called Research plan with a linked record field (Research study) pointing to another table. In the Research study table, there’s already a Persona field populated. Our goal is: when a new Research plan record is created and a Research study is selected, automatically populate the Persona field on the Research plan with the Persona from the linked Research study. We tried doing this with an automation:Trigger: When a record is created (Research plan) Action: Update record (the same Research plan record)However, the automation fails with the error: “Updating the record failed due to insufficient permissions.”We’ve confirmed:The automation owner has edit access to both tables The Persona field on Research plan is not a formula or rollupIs there a limitation around updating the same record that triggered a “record created” automation, or a p
I’ve tried almost every workaround I can think of. As a temporary solution, I can force “Deep Match” to always return something (a "fallback" record), but I haven’t found a way to trigger an automation after “Deep Match” runs successfully and finds nothing. Does anyone know of a workaround, or can point out what I might be missing?
In an automation with multiple logic branches, I like to end the Otherwise step by sending an email to myself with details to be research to find out why things didn’t go as expected. I find that works well most of the time. It also prevents the automation from outright failing. But when things are busy and the automation runs frequently, it is harder to find the exact run that failed. Is there any way to include the automation runtime in that Send an email step? I don’t see any way to get at those details.
Hello,i want to know if is possible to copy automatically fields from a table New Books to anther table Books. They will have the same fields. The table Books contents all the existing books on a library and the table New books, all newly purchased books. A form in softr will be filled with new books and it will be showed in table Books.
Hi there, It appears that there are a lot of threads but I can’t find an answer. I want to be able to add some images and font sizes and colours. I’ve tried connecting to GMail and setting up a signature but it doesn’t include the signature in the email body. I also have a field with the persons name in the airtable base, however that isn’t displaying for some reason. This should be pretty straight forward. I’m open to paying someone to do this. Thanks in advance. Jared.
I’ve been banging my head against a wall trying to get this to work and at this point I’ve come to the conclusion this might not be possible. I’m hoping that there is a wizard out there that may be able to help with this issue. So context:My base contains 3 tables. An inventory, a customer table, and an orders table. There are linked fields in both my Inventory and my Orders table that link to the customers table. Within my Inventory table there is also a linked field that links to the inventory. What I want to do is whenever I add a piece of inventory to a record in the Order table, that it adds the customers name to the item within the Inventory table. I’ve tried getting Omni to help me set it up, I’ve tried getting the support chatbot to help, and I’ve even tried Claude to help me with no results. If someone could share the correct setup I’d be eternally grateful. If I’m knocking on a door that doesn’t exist then that works too and I know I’m expecting too much. Thanks in advance!
Hello team, Is there a way to set up an automated outlook email(event) to be sent from a shared inbox and not my personal inbox in airtable?
I currently have a sign-up form that collects both a name and email address. When the person signs up, I have an automation set up to send a confirmation email. I have a bizarre situation where one person somehow keeps submitting their name and email address in what I assume is unicode bold, sometimes courier, and sometimes in a type of cursive. Whenever this happens, the confirmation email fails. The person who signs up on this form is older, and has no idea what she’s doing. I am hoping to be able to somehow convert all the unicode fonts into something that is readable so it can send emails. Some more context, the font also doesn’t get picked up if I do a Ctrl+F on the back end of the form. It’s as if the text isn’t there. If I copy and paste the text somewhere else online, it keeps the formatting, which makes me think it’s some kind of unicode that is still readable, but obviously not in this email situation. Can I fix this on the back end of AirTable so anytime she puts her “fonts”
I’m trying to configure a log-style table in Airtable where, when a new record is created, certain fields are automatically populated using values from the most recent existing record. The problem I’m running into:Using Automations → Find records, I can filter and sort records so that the correct prior record is identified However, Automations treat the result of Find records as a list, even when sorted and limited to one record Because of this, I can’t reliably reference a single previous record’s field value when updating the newly created record I’m using the Airtable free tier, so scripting and paid features are not availableWhat I’m trying to understand:Is there a supported way on the free plan to carry values forward from the most recent existing record into a new record using automations? If this isn’t directly possible, what table design or workaround is required to achieve this behavior within Airtable’s constraints?Any guidance on what can be done with free-tier Airtable autom
Hello, I would like to write a script that will move this project from “Active Projects” table to “Completed Projects” table when the status is changed to “Completed”. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Hello everybody I have been working on some AirTable Automation scripts and I figured people might need some help on working with Dates and Times using Javascript on the platform so I am here to share with the community a little guide on both working with AirTable records with Dates along with how to convert them over to JSONs and access/modify them. I specifically cover how to get Ordinal values from the day of the month along with getting the name of the month from the numeric value of the month! Setting Up Your ScriptThe first thing you will want to do is click the Automation Tab → Create your Trigger → under actions create an action that says “Run a script”.Creating The Script AutomationNext you will want to import your data either from a view or a table. In the left pane you will see a category called Inputs. inputs allows you to add in data from previous steps as long as it was mentioned using the output.set() function. Inputs PaneIf you have any previous steps with the output.
Background:I’m keeping records of applicants in my Airtable base. I wanted the applicants to be able to review the information I entered into Airtable and make any changes to them if needed. I already created the form and a separate table to do so, and I created a link (in a formula field) to their own pre-filled form using the Airtable extension. I also already created the automation to update any changes made with their pre-filled form. All of that works great but only when you click or copy and paste directly from the link in the Airtable formula field. Problem:I wanted to set up an automation that would send an email based on a trigger field to these applicants with their pre-filled form and confirm their info. I tested it out with a fake applicant record but the link in the email is not showing any of the pre-filled fields when you copy and paste (for some reason its also not showing the link fully underlined). I’ve attached a photo of what the pre-filled formula looks like in the
Hello,My name is Luke Rosencrans and I operate Chain Reaction Motorcycle School.I am looking to work with an experienced AI automation specialist or small team to build a comprehensive AI-driven operations system that can automate a large portion of my business workflow, including communication with customers, scheduling, payments, enrollment tracking, and administrative tasks across multiple platforms. The goal is to create a centralized system that acts like a digital front office and significantly reduce the amount of manual administrative work currently required to operate the business.I already have many message templates created that can be used to communicate with students, including templates for:• scheduling confirmations• follow-ups• payment reminders• enrollment instructions• class preparation instructions• frequently asked questions• links directing students to the correct signup pages on the websiteThese templates and signup links can be incorporated into the automation wor
Hello! I have an automation that runs once a week (so scheduled time trigger) that generates a list of names, email addresses, and tasks based on certain conditions (so Find Records action). I need this email to be sent to the addresses in that list. How can I get this information into the To field?I was able to do this with a “record updated” trigger, but I need it to be a scheduled email.

I am stuck on the “Stop Tracking” button automation. I can’t seem to be able to update the “End Time” field with the current time when the stop tracking button is pressed. Thanks!
How do you think web data analysis will change the way companies make decisions in the next few years?
With all the new features within the last 2 year sure there is a better way for clients to update their own records. Although it works it is still clunky and would be great to streamline this process. Context: I have been using fill out, where I send clients their unique URL and they fill info like dietary restrictions and it auto-populates/updates their row in Airtable. Is there a way to do it natively inside Airtable? Is there a simple way to say, like if they don’t fill the information in 5 days it sends them a reminder? Thanks everyone,Sonia
The precision of this error is completely useless…Google reported an error while processing this action: An error occurred while creating the Google DocIt happens +/- 10% of the time, always the same error, on different automation workflows. When I rerun, it passes every time, and doesn’t waste space to tell me it passed because it passed. I read it could be that it gets triggered while not all fields are filled, so I changed the trigger condition to “is not empty” for each of the relevant fields. I’m now out of clue, frustrated by this error description. On this community, I see other having “Mail service not enabled” or “Calendar usage limits exceeded” or “You’ve temporarily hit Google’s rate limit” Those are useful. But to report me an error for the reason that an error occurred.First time I see this.
I am very new to airtable so excuse me if I misunderstand some things.I am trying to use airtable to create a calendar of my bookings.I have two types of bookings. One that lasts exactly 30 minutes and one that lasts several days and start and end time are customizable.Because its a chore to pick a date and time exactly 30 minutes past the start time for my short bookings Im trying to run an automation so that anytime I create a record with no end date it will set the end date field to exactly 30 minutes past the start date.Is this possible?
